History: Madison Rotary Club and local Boy Scouts collected nickels, dimes and quarters to buy a metal replica Statue of Liberty for Madison, Wisconsin in 1951. It was part of a national Boy Scout effort to strengthen the arm of Liberty and patriotism. Now after decades of neglect, vandalism and previous renovations Lady Liberty was in need of restoration.
