Civil War event at Lincoln Tallman house PDF Print E-mail
A new tradition is starting at the Lincoln-Tallman Museum. The first annual "Everyday Life During the 1860s" living history event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 26th and 27th on the Lincoln-Tallman House grounds.

"The event promises to be a full day event that is informative and interesting for all ages," says Laura Baker, volunteer Marketing and Promotions Advisor for the event.  Sponsored by the Rock County Historical Society in cooperation with The Historical Timekeepers, a civil war reenacting group, the event features demonstrations and presentations on broom making, military drill, wet plate photography, ladies crafts, and blacksmithing.  The Timekeepers will also be recruiting area youth into a "School of the Soldier", allowing kids an opportunity to march, charge, stand at attention, and play the role of a Civil War soldier.  On Saturday, the Historical Timekeepers is hosting a 1860s fashion show. While on Sunday, they are providing presentations on "Music During and After the Civil War," in addition to "Tea Customs of the Century."  The highlight of the event is a unique presentation both days by Robert Todd Lincoln, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln.

The event is open to the public on Saturday from 10am-4pm, and Sunday 10am-3pm. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-12, and under 3 is free. Tickets include walk-through tours of the Lincoln-Tallman House.
