Our administrative operation requires a great number of supplies to provide support services for the entire council. These run from paper clips to computer processing. All are important needs that help assist our volunteer leaders, professional staff and support staff in providing quality Scouting programs for our youth members.

The Council Service Center’s provides record keeping, membership registration, Boy’s Life subscriptions, printing, mailings, the monthly Edge Newsletter and other services.

All Gifts-in-Kinds must be listed or an approved equivalent. Full details may be secured from Les German, Finance Director at 608-273-1005.

Support Materials – Pamphlets, flyers, video types developed specifically to help various churches, service clubs, schools and other community organizations focus on how they can use Scouting activities to achieve their own objectives

 

 

 

Unit Organizer Kits – Programming, planning, and recruiting materials to provide a new Scouting unit with the tools to organize and maintain a quality program.

Unit Re-chartering Kits – All Scouting units annually renew their operating charters with the Boy Scouts of America. The packet of material, forms, and literature are furnished to each community organization that charter a registered Scouting unit. (500 Packets)

Spring Recruitment Program – Each spring elementary and middle school age boys are approached to join Scouting. The opportunity is provided for the prospective members to join in time to participate in summer camps and activities as a start to their Scouting experiences. Materials such as: Camp promotion materials, registration forms and recruitment flyers are provided to units and their leaders to recruit these boys.

“Fall Round up” Recruitment Program – Every fall Scouting launches a membership drive to enroll new boys and their families as Scouts and leaders. Promotional materials such as recruitment flyers; recognition for youth, leaders and schools; posters and invitations are used.

Broad Based Marketing – Projects over and above those listed elsewhere in this booklet that promote Scouting through various media channels: print, radio, television, billboards, etc. Projects may range from $1,000 to $10,000.

Leadership Development & Recognition

Cost

Cub Scout Leader Training Materials – A quality program begins with trained leaders. Training for Cub Pack leaders is provided year round to approximately 1,000 new leaders each year. Training is accomplished through printed materials and guidebooks. Scouters who complete training are recognized with a training strip.

Boy Scout Leader Training Materials – Training for our Boy Scout and Webelos Leaders is offered through two courses in the fall and spring as well as at Scout Summer Camps. This project included program guides, planning materials and supplies for participants, facility costs and patches to recognize Scouters who complete the training.

Leadership Development & Recognition

Cost

Advisor or Youth Officer Training – Post/Crew advisors and youth officers undergo training so that they are ready to provided the leadership needed for a quality program in exploring/venturing. This project included printed materials, video training aides and facility costs.

Camp Staff – National Camp School & Transportation - This regionally run one-week course is required attendance for key program and administrative staff leaders who will conduct summer camp programs for our Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. (Cost per participate, a total of 8 are needed).

Summer Camp Staff Training week – This training is conducted prior to opening our summer camps. It is required for each of our two camp staffs for both camping facilities. Training includes printed materials for program development, leadership, and meals. (Two are needed).

Adult Leader training awards – Adult Scout Leaders who serve for a specific amount of time may qualify for special recognition. They must participate in required training courses and meet set standards of performance in serving youth. These awards and accompanying certificate and knot recognize the individual’s contributions to youth through Scouting.

LD7 Silver Beaver Recognitions – The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a volunteer leader may receive from a local council. Presented at the Annual Dinner, a framed certificate is provided as well as other recognition items. Each year, the council presents 8 – 10 awards.

Council Volunteer Recognition Dinner – Special recognition is given annually in April for adult volunteers who have given significant time and leadership to Scouting. The participating volunteers underwrite the dinner meal. The special recognition items, printing of dinner invitations, facility rental may be under written by your sponsorship.

District Award of Merit Recognition – The District Award of Merit is the highest recognition a volunteer leader may receive for their service to the district. Presentation at their respective district dinner includes a plaque, certificate and embroidered patch for the uniform.

Eagle Scout Presentation Kits – The high point of a young men’s Scouting career is the rank of Eagle Scout. Upon approval of the National Board of Review he received recognition of his achievements with a presentation kit, including the Eagle Scout Badge, at a troop court of honor. (75 awards at $20 each)
