“This is Scouting” is available online at www.myscouting.org.
Boy Scout Leader Fast Start
This is the first step to take for any volunteer new to Boy Scouting. This course should be taken before beginning youth activities. You’ll learn the aims and purposes of the Boy Scouts of America’s core program, and then zero in on the job. You’ll cover the seven parts of the troop meeting, the troop committee, outdoor program, and other basic concepts of Scouting, all in one short online experience. It’s the best way for someone new to the program to quickly grasp how troop Scouting works and where additional resources can be found. Those taking it on-line for credit in local council records must provide their official BSA member ID number as part of their user profile.
Boy Scout Leader Fast Start Training is available online at www.myscouting.org. Please go to “Online Training” for details.
You can expect to see a short, action-packed, and informative video for each of the six modules listed above. At the end of each video, you’ll be asked to answer a few basic questions to test your comprehension. Once you’re done, you’ll get a certificate of completion and be on your way to enjoying the Scouting program to its fullest.
