Venture Advisor Fast Start
This is the first step for any volunteer new to Venturing. This course should be taken immediately after you register but before you begin youth activities. The course introduces the aims and purposes of the Boy Scouts of America’s coeducational program for youth from 14 to 20 years of age, and goes on to explain how the program works to deliver a relevant and compelling program. On-Line, the highly graphic and interactive program typically takes no more than an hour to complete. Those taking it for credit in local council records must provide their official BSA member ID number as part of their user profile.
Venture Leader Fast Start Training is available online at www.myscouting.org. Please go to “Online Training” for details.
This is Scouting
“This is Scouting,” is a new required course for all adult volunteers. The hour-long program—available in the BSA’s Online Learning Center—introduces participants to the following six areas of the Scouting program:
- Mission, vision and values
- Programs for all ages and abilities
- Scouting is fun
- Scouting in the community
- Protecting our youth
- Scouting’s legacy
“This is Scouting” is available online at www.myscouting.org. Please go to “Online Training” for details.
You can expect to see a short, action-packed, and informative video for each of the six modules listed above. At the end of each video, you’ll be asked to answer a few basic questions to test your comprehension. Once you’re done, you’ll get a certificate of completion and be on your way to enjoying the Scouting program to its fullest.
